"An Obama spokesman declared the issues "minor" and said the administration is confident that the nomination is on track for a scheduled hearing Monday with the Finance Committee."
--Well, $10,000 is "minor" compared to Daschle's tax problem, anyway....I guess its just a matter of perspecitive.
I guess were talking here about the latest tax-dodging Obama appointee. Ron Kirk, former mayor of Dallas. Get this, he deducted double the value of a used T,V. ($3000) on his return. Shades of the Clinton's used scivies deductions in the ninety's. He'll get rubber stamped for the job of U.S. Trade Representative if I read the comments of the Committee chairman Max Baucus right.
ReplyDeleteI find it absurd that tax returns have become the litmus test for fitness to a particular position. Our tax code is so convoluted and confusing that it takes several degrees to unravel its intracacies and even then good people still wind up fighting audits. I just cannot draw that straight line test for cabinet appointments. It seems so dishonest to say that a candidate must have never made a mistake on his or her tax return before we can hire them. I know that this is not my litmus test, and I doubt that a close examination of the bashers would find perfect tax returns in their filing cabinets. We also need to make room for honest mistakes on tax returns. I say, move on and confirm the appointments and leave the tax scrutiny to the IRS.
ReplyDeleteHey Instigator, that's what Tim Geithner said too.
