Be careful what you are thinking...soon, it might make you a criminal

Another doosey just got passed by the left in the Senate: they attached hate crimes legislation in a defense authorization bill (voted on at 1 AM, mind you) that will criminilize your speech and associations (all 28 no votes were republicans; 5 republicans voted for it). This legislation violates not only the 1st amendment's guarantee of free speech and assembly, but also the 14th amendment's guarantee to equal protection under the law (as previous 'hate' crime legislation has done)...that U.S. Constitution has become so antiquated, you know.

Essentially, if you commit a crime, then the magazines you subscribe to, blog comments you have written, words you have said, churches or other groups you belong to, etc. can all be scrutinized for 'hateful' content (to be determined later). Such access to hateful thoughts will give you a stiffer sentence than someone who only subscribes to a politically correct thoughts (again, to be determined later). This bill is so eggregious, and so far left of the mainstream, that even the ACLU has come out in opposition to it!

But don't worry, I'm sure the Democrats are just looking out for your best interests...and they will NEVER use it against you for political purposes...nooooo.

Is it 1934?

Look in detail at this photo and ask yourself, "Has anything changed since 1934?". Why must history repeat itself? Answer: those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.

Like your health care MA residents?

Here is a funny video describing Obama's health-care plans...using Massachusetts' health care plan as comparison to Georgia (hat tip to Breitbart TV):

No, the media is not in the bag for democrats

Watch this video (skip to 7 minutes if you can't stomach it all, I don't blame you), and try to answer the questions posed after...

How in the H-E-double hockey-sticks did Bush and the republicans get blamed for the housing crash-induced recession?!!!

Why does Barney Frank still have a job?

Are you surprised that our economy is in shambles, when Franklin
"housing CAN'T fail" Raines is now Obama's chief economic advisor?

Obama's selective mingling

Last week, while Iran's mullahs concluded yet another unfair election, Obama took the courageous stand of the middle-ground by declaring "How that plays out," Mr. Obama said, "is ultimately for the Iranian people to decide." This, while those seeking democracy in Iran were being bludgeoned to death in the streets, by the state-sanctioned thug-ocracy. Apparently, it was his belief that he shouldn't mingle into Iranian politics. Fair enough, one might say, after all didn't we engage in enough meddling during those terrible Bush years?

In today's news, Honduran president Zelaya, was ousted after trying to illegally hold a referendum that would allow him to seek additional terms in office; illegally I say, because their constitution says that he cannot due this without approval from the other branches of the government. He did not have approval from ANY branch of the government, not even of his own party. When he tried anyway (getting the ballots from Chavez of Venezuela, none-the-less), the Supreme Court ordered the military to arrest him. They did, sent him into exile, and now the rightful next in line (according to their constitution, the top man in congress) is interim president until scheduled November elections.

Strangely, however, Obama doesn't seem to be in his "no more mingling" kind-of mood:

"We believe that the coup was not legal and that President Zelaya remains the president of Honduras, the democratically elected president there," Obama told reporters after an Oval Office meeting with Colombian President Alvaro Uribe.

Strange, how Obama won't fight for freedom, but he is so quick to fight for a dictator wanna-be. Jimmy Carter, the sequel.

Close Air Support (well...moral support anyway)

Watch in disbelief (click here) at the new rules of engagement that our troops are obliged to follow under the kinder, gentler, war doctrine of the Obama administration…

Apparently our troops are no longer entitled to close air support unless they are "in danger of being overrun". Is it Obama’s objective to raise the death-toll of our soldiers to the point that the U.S. populace says ‘uncle’?

The duplicity of the Democrats’ Health Care Plan

One of the central lessons of high school Civics classes is that anticompetitive behavior is detrimental to society; so detrimental, in fact, that whole governmental oversight bodies were established early last century to identify and break up companies that engage in these practices. In those civics classes, we were all taught to despise the tactics of the Andrew Carnegies, the J. P. Morgans, the Vanderbilts, and the John D. Rockefellers of the world. And for good reason: without competition, a company can charge whatever exorbitant rate it wants and in return provide whatever substandard services it wants.

One model that high school student are given that allows them to visualize how anticompetitive practices work to destroy competition is that of the gas station owner. In this model, a big, rich gas station owner (think Rockefeller’s Standard Oil), sets up shop next to local Joe’s gas station. Since Standard Oil could pull resources from many other gas stations (and other businesses) it owned, it could afford to temporarily set its gas sale price below the market rate, and drive Joe out of business, thus creating a local monopoly.

Well, you say, there’s nothing to worry about today; the Morgans and the Rockefellers are vestiges of a bygone era, and our government protects us against such scoundrels. Yes they do, but who can protect us against the government and their anticompetitive intentions? The so called “Public Option” that that the Democrats want to include in their massive health care bill is every bit as anticompetitive as what the Morgans and the Rockefellers did. How so? Well let’s look at the largest healthcare provider in the U.S., Blue Cross Blue Shield. There are 39 franchises of this insurer, each in a different region (so they are actually separate companies, just like McDonalds franchises), and they insure roughly 100 million Americans. The annual revenue for each franchise is in the low billions (for example, about $3 billion for the New Jersey affiliate). But for argument’s sake, let’s assume they are all one company and have revenues of $120 billion (again, aren’t and they don’t). Well the U.S. Government’s revenue for 2008 was $2.5 trillion! Barack Obama says he wants to “keep the health insurance companies honest” by offering a low cost “public option” (shhhh…Don’t say ‘Government-run healthcare’!). What Obama will do in fact, is park his Rockefeller-like health-care gas station right next to Joe’s and run him out of business…that is their plan…that is their intention. He will use your money ($2.5 trillion in tax revenues) to outcompete local franchises until they are driven out of business, and until the “Public option” is the only option.

Look above to the bolded-italicized text and re-read those words carefully. This way, if and when the Democrats heath care plan goes through, you will understand why your taxes have gone up so much, why you have to wait so long for a doctor’s appointment, and why you weren’t prescribed the latest advanced medicine. If you think this is scare-mongering, do your own research and see what a nightmare the much vaunted (by the left) government health care plans of Canada and the UK have become.

If you want your local doctor’s office to have the look and feel of your state DMV, sit back and relax. Otherwise, get off your duff and email (at least) your state representatives and tell them how you feel.

The Obama Apology Tour - Sort Of

You may not have noticed, but BHO is on sort of an apology tour (for Americans). As indicated in an earlier April 2009 Mullally Report blog , the Anointed One went on his very first European tour and he did one faux pas after faux pas. Now he is trying it again the way Americans want to see it. On his second such tour to Europe and the Middle East, he is doing things differently. This time he didn't bow to the king of Saudi Arabia when they met. This time he didn't worry about hurting the German's 'feelings'. He visited a German concentration camp instead. This time he didn't by pass visiting the American cemetery in Normandy while visiting France. He actually made a point of visiting on the anniversary of D-Day.

Who knows... Maybe he is starting to listen to people.

Let Them Eat Cake

Unemployment is nearing 10 percent and tens of thousands of American auto workers are about to lose their jobs (their sacrifice to our future generations according to a speech today by our President). This weekend, this same President took his wife on a $24K date to a Broadway show and dinner (courtesy of us taxpayers).

Must be nice...

BREAKING NEWS

Due to a sharp cut in funding, Salty's Classroom Quiz, the ever popular weekly brain-teaser, published in such high echelon papers as the New York Mimes, and the ST Louis Desperatch, announced with much regret the termination,as of this week, of this highly respected education article.
When told the news, former VP Al Gore stated "Now what will I do with all my spare time, this coming just when my Global Warming rant seems to be losing most of its hot air".

Every now and then the AP screws up and fails to edit out what can be considered good news to those of us that back the use of force against terrorists.
Usually when there is a success story, it's considered non-news by the AP.
I spotted a lapse in this policy in an article on the incursion earlier this year, by Israel into Gaza.
I'll excerpt their error---"Violence has largely abated along the tense frontier since Israel's devastating offensive against Gaza's Hamas rulers, earlier this year."
It was a long time coming, but I'd have to say the results of that incursion prove the theory that the maggots of this world only respect punishing responses.
I'd be willing to bet the editor of that article is probably been demoted back to copy-boy.

ONLY IN LIBBIE TOWN AND U.C.BERKLEY

The good guys finally won one, not a cease fire not a U.S. or U.N. intervention but a good old fashioned military trouncing of the Tamil Tigers terrorist organization by the legitimate Sri Lhanka government, and the dispatching of all their murdering leaders.
Wouldn't you think that all the people in the free world (except for the car bombers and their ilk ) would be rejoicing, along with the citizens of that war weary country,( in Colombo, thousands were celebrating in the streets ) at this good news ?
Guess again. In an editorial , the Boston Globe seems to be pouting.
They've published a list of "must do now"directives to the government of President Mahinda Rajapaska, the clear winner of this 25 year old dogfight, and insinuated he wasn't coming clean about civilian casualties, that "impartial" witnesses on the scene reported. (in the accompanying A.P. news article the complaint seemed to be that no one but the military was allowed in the war zone)
Among'st other whinings, they say the E.U. must follow up on its call for investigations of war crimes against civilians.
If the maggots won, would they be demanding the same?
They then go on to admonish that government to treat all their citizens in a fair way.
Once again, would this same warning go to the Tamil Tigers had they won? I think not.
Oh well,I guess if my team lost, I'd be bitter to.

SPORT-ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZHas baseball

Has baseball gotten real boring in the last year or so, or is it just me?
Where have all the big guns gone? What has become of all those walk-off game winning homers?
But wait, it seems that our erstwhile hero, Manny you know, being Manny hadn't lost his touch, until of course he was caught trying to get pregnant.
All of a sudden our Big Poppy can't get it even near the fence anymore, what has happened, what seems to be missing? What ever it is, a lot of the excitement is gone from the game, because some stiff-collars decided to take the juice away from the "boys of summer.

Bring back the steroids or adjust the outfield walls. Just joking, -----honest injune!!!

Obama wants more people to go to college (using your money of course)

With an ever-increasing display of compassion and generosity, Obama has declared that he wants to make it easier for the unemployed to gain access to Pell Grants to help people pay for school. Currently, the unemployed are not allowed access to Pell grants; this is for two reasons: 1.) you are supposed to already in college when you apply (i.e. not 'unemployed'), and 2.) when accepting unemployment benefits from the state, the state actually expects (get this) that you are actively engaged in finding a job for yourself.

However, not just anyone is eligible for Pell grants; that is because these grants are not merit-based, they are income-based. And no, they are not held exclusively for those who pay taxes (like you were probably about to guess, right?), but are instead for the 'needy'. In fact, even if you, yourself, are 'needy' but your parents are not, you probably won't qualify.

This proposal is a trifecta for Obama, since he can distribute more wealth from the wealth creators to the wealth consumers, simultaneously remove a whole lot of unemployed people from the 'unemployed category', thus prettying-up his dismal economic stats, and make important inroads to his goal of establishing "free" college for everyone.

I see a whole lot of Bachelors of Community Organizing degrees being awarded in the near future.

A Lasting Tribute To A Hero Of Our Time

Thanks to a Tennessee legislature group, years from now, a person may be able to bring their children to the state capitol grounds in Nashville and show them the man who saved the world.

Yes, the Senate State and Local Government Committee just voted unanimously to build a statue of the hero of our time, Al Gore.

Only the state senate stands in the way of this becoming a reality. Tennessee senators, please do the right thing.

ANOTHER VICTIM OF THE LEFTIES

As a sad follow up to the article I posted 05-05-09 on the MULLALLY REPORT, this article is almost prophetic.
Boston Police say an eighteen year old black kid, on his way to a music class in Dorchester, was shot to death in broad daylight on Tonawanda St.
Ironically his mother had taken him to Florida at the age of five to escape the mayhem of Dorchester, but his grandmother talked him into returning here earlier this year. No suspects, no known motive, only a victim of a "victimless passive" crime, according to the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. Who knows maybe the perpatraters were some of the many criminals freed up the court's ruling against holding illegal gun suspects without bail for Dangerous Hearings?
By the way, this kid, by all reports was no gang member, just came home to Boston at the wrong time. And by the way, this happened just yearsterday a day after the S.J.C. decision.

TEST YOUR KNOWLEDGE

Who of the following groups would qualify as misanthropes ?
1. Al Qaeda and Taliban head coaches.
2 Josep Stalin, Mao Tse Tung, Adolph Hitler.
3 Islamic suicide bombers.
4 Liberals, who knowingly support the aforementioned by their deeds in politics and the media.
5 None of the above.
6 All of the above.
Tip, misanthropes abhor in a crazed way their fellow human beings. They're real mean people.

Results of the quiz next week.

ALL THE GNUS THATS FIT TO PRINT

In another step in the wrong direction, the Supreme Judicial Court, of the"Peoples Republic of Taxachusetts, in a four to one (wow not unanimous) ruling, sided with the street thugs (aka bangers), making it no longer possible for law enforcement to hold so called Dangerous Hearings, that permit the holding of illegal, unlicensed hand gun possessers, people with a previous criminal record, without bail, pending trial. They view it as a "passive, victimless crime".
C Sam Sutter Bristol County D A stated "they have no connect with the reality on the streets".
This ruling ignores the obvious ---they pack these guns to injure, kill and thus intimadate (terrorize) the neighborhoods they operate in.
One legal moonbat, Jim Wallace, of some legal Action League, claims he wants to work with Sutter, in a possitive way, to resolve this "minor licensing problem".
Relax Jim, the nutty SJC, the very same gang that brought us gay marriage, already resolved it.
Hey, instead of illegal hand guns, how about we call them undocumented hand guns, that should help the law abiding citizens of Roxbury and north Dorchester feel a lot more relaxed these days.

It's Official: Press Is A Weapon For Obama

Just released in an ABC News story: "A leading bankruptcy attorney representing hedge funds and money managers told ABC News Saturday that Steve Rattner, the leader of the Obama administration's Auto Industry Task Force, threatened one of the firms, an investment bank, that if it continued to oppose the administration's Chrysler bankruptcy plan, the White House would use the White House press corps to destroy its reputation."

We all knew the media was in the tank for Obama. Now they are no longer hiding it. When the media can no longer be trusted to tell the truth and be impartial, who can we count on?

Check out this video to see more evidence of how bad it has gotten.

This can't be true...

Two independent, non-partisan studies have shown that the media is in the tank for Obama, and have given him overwhelmingly glowing coverage in his first 100 days compared to Bush. In one of the studies, Clinton's numbers were similar to Obama's.

How is this possible?!...we conservatives haven't noticed that there is any bias in the media. They must be very good at hiding it (is my sarcasm dripping enough for you?).

"Global Warming" is a doubleplus ungood phrase

Like a page out of George Orwell's book 1984, liberals have concluded that the public isn't buying their phrase "global warming", and are therefore attempting to reframe the debate in Newspeak terms. A NY Times article quotes from an email sent by an environmentalist lobbying group, ecoAmerica (oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to use my newspeak translator: according to the Times, ecoAmerica is a "a nonprofit environmental marketing and messaging firm in Washington", not a lobbying group):

"Instead of grim warnings about global warming, the firm advises, talk about “our deteriorating atmosphere.” Drop discussions of carbon dioxide and bring up “moving away from the dirty fuels of the past.” Don’t confuse people with cap and trade; use terms like “cap and cash back” or “pollution reduction refund.”"

and this:
"remember to speak in TALKING POINTS aspirational language about shared American ideals, like freedom, prosperity, independence and self-sufficiency while avoiding jargon and details about policy, science, economics or technology,” said the e-mail account of the group’s study."

I suppose that since the envirowackos are losing the war of words (or what we sometimes call: oh, I don't know....debate!), since people aren't buying A.) their scientific arguments that global warming is caused by man, and not just natural global climate variation, B.) their insistence that the 'crisis' that they claim exists poses imminent danger to society, or C.) that their proposed solutions are either practical or economically viable, they should try a new tack.

Allow me to predict that its just a matter of time before our teleprompter-in-chief himself starts using these Newspeak terms, and that denial of blackwhite will be labeled crimethink.

Heroes?

Today, ABC News outed the two individuals who supposedly came up with the waterboarding interrogation technique. Trying to get us to revile these guys, they are not very convincing:

The new memos also show waterboarding was used "with far greater frequency than initially indicated" to even those in the CIA.
Abu Zubaydah was water boarded at least 83 times and Khalid Sheikh Mohamed at least 183 times.

What they fail to mention is that before the 184th waterboarding session, Mohamed finally told his interrogators about the plot to fly planes into LA buildings. I guess one can argue that the technique is in fact effective and saved countless US lives. Should these two men be considered heroes?

Swine Flu--Time for a little perspective

Have you bought your fashionable Swine-Flu surgical mask yet? Have you stocked up on provisions for the eventual downfall of civilization that the flu might cause? Have you cancelled your family vacation or business plans due to this imminent disaster?

Are you starting to get just a little feeling of déjà vu?

Wasn't SARS supposed to be a devastating pandemic? What about the deadly H5N1 Avian flu virus?

The fact of the matter is that SARS and H5N1 had less impact globally than your typical variant of the common cold (influenza virus). Each year, almost 30,000 people in the U.S. die from the common cold, and the number of deaths, worldwide, is at least 500,000.---that is an average of 82 deaths in the U.S. every day, every year!

...And not a peep from the local news about it...because normal events don't sell papers or airtime. Just a little perspective.

UPDATE:
Well, that didn't take long....Now scientists are saying that the "swine flu" isn't all that the politicians are making it out to be.

I could go on-and-on about what an asinine decision it was for the Obama administration to perform a "photo-Op" for their new jumbo jet over New York freakin' City, but the filmed reaction of real New Yorkers pretty much trumps any commentary...did I mention that the fools thought it would be a good idea to tail the jumbo with a freakin' fighter jet?!!

A Day In Bizarro World

  1. Obama does not lift a finger to fight the scum bag ACLU from getting pictures of prisoner 'abuse' that they will immediately release to the world.
  2. The man who made over $100 million last year peddling his 'sky is falling' global warming dribble testifies in Congress as a witness to global warming.
  3. Illegal aliens crossing the open Mexican border bring in a new deadly flu strain.
  4. Congress to give Obama a '100 day' gift by using a loop hole in a bogus fast-track 'budget reconciliation' procedure to ramrod universal healthcare through Congress without requiring 60+ votes. The only problem is that it must be done within 35 hours, so the fate of 17 percent of our economy will not be given the due diligence it requires. But hey, look at the what Obama accomplished in first 100 days!

When will the citizens of the US wake up and stop taking this abuse in power by our elected leaders. I, for one, am starting to get furious and impatient.

Pulling The Wool Over The Eyes of The Sheeple

A couple of weeks ago, $8 billion in earmarks was just a small fraction of the budget and was not a big deal. Yesterday, saving $100 million in the budget is a lot of money to most people.

Probably in response to the Teabag protests, Obama ordered that $100 million in savings be found in the $4 trillion budget in the next 90 days (it only took them about 2 weeks to come up with $800 billion bailout that no one had time to read). To place this in context, if the average person was asked to find a similar savings in their personal budget, they would just have to sacrifice buying a single latte at Starbucks sometime during the year.

Supposedly, Obama's behavioral psychologist staff discovered that the average person has no noticeable mental change when presented with the values $10,000, $10 million or $10 trillion. These values all sound like a lot of money to the average person and Obama is banking on this fact when he tries to manipulate us with numbers.

Baa baa baa....

Personal responsibility; You won't find those words in Obama's dictionary

Another notable occurrence at the Americas Summit:

When confronted by an America-bashing 50 minute rant by Daniel Ortega (yes, the former Sandinista), Obama said, as a retort: “I am very grateful that President Ortega didn’t blame me for things that happened when I was three months old.” This is the schoolyard equivalent of "don't look at me, he did it!". It is also, unfortunately, a disturbing personal trait of our new president in which he refuses to accept any degree of responsibility (this topic is covered succinctly at Legal Insurrection). It also illustrates, yet again, how willing he is to throw anyone under the bus in order to shield himself from criticism (we know about his "racist" white grandmother), even the people of his very own country who chose him to lead. Last, it shows the true depths of his narcissism; he truly believes that everything is about him.

Where’s Waldo?

For years now, the left has charged that the United States is too aggressive in its foreign policy, all across the globe: e.g. they believe that our support of Israel has perpetuated the suffering, not only of the Palestinians, but of the peoples of the Middle East as a whole; that our support of former Soviet Bloc countries in Eastern Europe is unnecessarily provoking our old adversary, Russia; that multilateral solutions (i.e. the UN) are the best way solve a number of international crises, from North Korea to Iran. They are now hopeful that, with cooler heads in charge (read: the cowboy is gone), we will finally pull back from the world and be more ‘tolerant’ and able to ‘listen’ to the so-called legitimate concerns of our enemies. They further believe that a world with diminished U.S. influence will actually be more stable and peaceful than one in which we are full engaged.

However, they seem to have a fundamental misunderstanding of (or are desperately trying to re-write) history: Namely, that it was in fact our ‘arrogant’ engagement that has resulted in a stable, war-free, and largely democratic Europe and Asia for more than 50 years. More importantly though, looking toward the future, they seem to have no understanding of a very important maxim first stated by Aristotle: Nature abhors a vacuum. This maxim is true not only in the physical world, but also in the geopolitical: when one power diminishes in influence, by definition, another must and will take its place, because a vacuum, by its nature, desires to be filled.

So what does our teleprompter-in-chief do? First he goes to Europe, for the G20 meeting, and apologizes for our ‘arrogance’, thus supporting the claims by the left that that is in fact what we have been and what we are. While there, as has been noted on this blog and elsewhere, he finds it appropriate to subjugate himself, and by proxy the whole of the U.S., to the royalty of an unelected kingdom. Now he has diminished the status of the U.S. one step further, by placing himself in a non-descript position in a photo of all of the leaders of the Americas at the Americas summit (see below). Referring to my title, “Where’s Waldo?”, see if you can find Obama in the picture within 60 seconds….ready, go!...

...Yeah, me neither.

Obama is supposed to be the leader of the free world. He is supposed to stand up for the oppressed in our hemisphere and show them a way forward, to prosperity and happiness. Instead what we get, in this picture-worth -a-thousand-words moment, is a man who chooses not to lead, who instead stands back to let others take his place. Whom does he allow, instead, to show the way forward?...Bolivia’s Evo Morales, who believes that Zimbabwe-style expropriation is the way forward, and Brazil’s Lula, who last week blamed “white people with blue eyes” for the financial crisis, each took center stage. Nature abhors a vacuum; and unfortunately for our long-term security, and for the futures of millions in Central and South America, the vacuum that Obama is creating will be eagerly filled by those who have their own visions of what the future of the Americas should look like.

Peter Pan Syndrome: Some Liberals Never Grow Up

A recent Rasmussen poll has found that just 53 percent of Americans think that capitalism offers a better economic model than socialism. Although it doesn’t take a brain surgeon to guess that the breakdown of those numbers would reveal that more Democrats favored socialism as compared to Republicans, what was revealing was what age group Democrats and Republicans most closely matched.

Democrats prefer socialism to the tune of 30 percent with 31 percent undecided, while a whopping 92 percent of Republicans favor capitalism. With regard to the age-trend, 33% of the under 30 crowd are for socialism and 30 percent are undecided, while in the over 40 crowd only 13 percent prefer socialism (keep in mind that this 13 percent is still tainted by Woodstock hippies). In short, liberals’ ideas very closely match those of idealistic youngsters, who have yet to take on real responsibilities in their lives. By contrast, Republicans’ views more closely match the age-wizened.

So what, you ask, can we conclude beyond reasonable doubt? Well, one obvious interpretation is that the minds of many liberals haven’t advanced beyond the crude economic formulations that are bandied about during first year college humanities courses…e.g. poverty: bad must mean welfare: good.

…And they called George Bush dumb.

Rep Barbara Lee D Ca, on assignment.

" Quite simply, Rep. Cohen will have to accept what the rest of the country will have to accept- there has been an unofficial "white caucus" for over 200 years, and now it's our turn to say who can join the the club."

These statements by Rep. William Lacey Clay Jr. D Mo, on Rep Steve Cohen 's, Dem TN, attempt to join the Congressional Black Congress.

ALL THE GNUS FIT TO PRINT

According to a New York Times article,we have doctors, nurses, etc.,that are aiding and abetting our ability to get crucial information out of enemy combatants.
The testimony to these infractions are derived by the "International Committee Of Services".
This is based totaley on the "unbiased" reports of Al Quida prisoners in US detention".
"Hey they wouldn't stretch the truth would they"?
Red Cross investigators complained that these medical personal did not intervene in so called tortures, and are ,as a result ,coconspiritors to such mean methods of extracting information, as "waterboarding, isolation, sleep deprivation". Hey, Idi Amin, Joe Stalin ,Ho Chi Min, et al would never stoop so low!
Great work Time-ossars,the country realy trust trusts all you "newsbats".

LIBBY TOWN '' BREAKING NEWS''

According to the AP, BO has just fired Rick Wagoner, the chairman of GM, citing his incompetence,in running the private company.
The "Anointed One", also intends to name his replacement. According to his tax cheating treasury muscle man, this practice will also apply to several other "non government"institutions , in the guise of "restructuring" so they will emerge stronger from the current fiscal crisis.
Does this sound like the current administration is usurping powers never intended for them by the constitution? Does it stink of socialism,(think Castro, Chavez, North Korea et al)?
Just who will be his replacements (commissars), Barney Frank, Bill Ayers maybe even the debauched Ted Kennedy?
This stuff should scare the hell out of every one of us.

B O, in another controversial appointment, has selected Al Sharpten as a candidate for ambassador to the Peoples Republic Of The Gazza Strip.

The reverent was quoted as saying ,"I know these bomb tossers like my own family."

When asked by a reporter to be more specific, an enraged Sharpton claimed "this is more racist than the Tamana Brawley reporting." "Whitey's at it again.!!!"

Bush twins can't drink, but Biden's daughter can DO BLOW?!

If you have been getting your news from the mainstream media, you might have missed a news story that broke on Saturday. Apparently, it is not newsworthy for CNN, the New York Times, or any other major newspaper to mention the little detail that VP Biden's DAUGHTER has been caught on video tape snorting several lines of COCAINE!!!

By contrast, in 2001 (after 9-11 mind you), CNN, USA Today, BBC, ABC, et al., all found it too be of the greatest national interest to report that the Bush twins had....brace yourselves...been cited for alcohol possession at the age of 19!!!!!!...send them to the guillotine! But Biden's daughter doing blow.....<>

Obama's Brown Shirts Hired To Help Recruit Census Takers

A few weeks ago, the story that the White House took control of the US Census Bureau from the US Commerce Department was swept under the rug. Now we find out that ACORN has been contracted to help hire the 1.4 million enumerators who will be needed to conduct the 2010 US census.

Nothing needs to said about the importance of the US Census in reforming voting districts. Nothing needs to said about the numerous ACORN voter fraud stories.

Where is the media on this one? Where is the transparency that Obama promised?

Click to see a report from FoxNews.

Another must-see video

This video sums up the frustration, as seen by those from the right-of-center. I can't say I agree with the part about two years of obligatory service...but other than that he is pretty much spot-on. Hat tip: Pajamas Media

Where is our Daniel Hannan?

In case you haven't seen it, here is a great video of a British MEP, Daniel Hannan, taking Prime Minister Gordon Brown to task. What the republicans need to take back congress in 2010, is an American version of Hannan who can articulate all of the policy missteps of the Teleprompter-in-chief.

Update: Well, upon second thought....we do have
Thaddeus McCotter (R., MI). For whatever reason,
however, it is rarely men like these that run for
president; so we are left with the sorry lot we get.

Healthcare Express

I keep hearing from Obama that he intends to extend healthcare coverage to the supposed 46 million (I can’t truthfully say Americans) in the US who do not have it, AND at the same time, reduce healthcare costs. What I have not heard, not even once, is how he plans to do it. Today, in his 'virtual’ town hall meeting, he said he is open to ‘all serious ideas’.

Obama and the dem leadership obviously have no clue on what to do and plan on encountering stiff resistance from even democrats. To combat this anticipated resistence, Pelosi and Reid intend on employing a little used ‘reconciliation’ procedure that allows Congress to ‘fast track’ legislature that only requires 51 votes, as opposed to the normal 60 majority vote.

Prepare to get railroaded.

Mien Kamph

When they came for the tradesmen I did not protest, I looked away.
When they came for the Catholics I did not protest,I looked away.
When they came for me there was no one left to protest, they were all taken away.

This was a quote about pre "Nazi" Germany, by a Jewish man, after the war.

Could this possibly be a harbinger for the American working class, middle class?

BARAQ THE CLOWN

"There's got to be a little gallows laughter to get you through the day. "
Here goes the late night talk shows "Comedian In Chief " with his cornball excuses for his inept attempts at humor, about some of what most of us see as very serious matters.
On CBS News' "60 Minutes", interviewer Steve Croft had to ask "The Anointed One",what it was he found to be funny about his bailout packages, that gave him cause to laugh after explaining their need.
Does this idiot think this mess were in is a joke?
Maybe the "moonbats" that got him elected think it is, but the average ,intelligent person wants this ongoing charade to stop, and for him get into at least trying to solve this mess and stay off the "boob tube".

The New Reign Of Terror

During the French Revolution, a radical mob called the Jacobins scoured the country side, terrorizing (and in some instances executing) aristocrats. This period in French history is known as the Reign of Terror. Today, Obama seems to have released his own form of radicals, known as ACORN, to do his bidding. Check out what happened in Connecticut yesterday. A bus tour, organized by the ACORN community activist front group Working Families Party, attempted to visit the homes of several AIG executives in order to start protest demonstrations.

From an article in the Danbury News-Times, “it was the surrounding neighborhood that widened Asaas Jackson’s eyes. “This is nowhere even close to what it looks like where I live in north Hartford” said Jackson seeing a half-dozen huge homes, some housing their own swimming pools, gazebos and backyard patios”.

Although the overall event was ineffective (the media outnumbered the protesters 3 to 1 and they managed to only harass two home owners), it is a frightening signal of where things are heading. And as seen by the huge media presence, the media is actually encouraging these radicals to escalate this type of 'haves' versus 'have nots' activity. Think American Idol auditions, where thousands of complete losers show up and stand in line for hours for the almost non-existent chance of getting their face on TV. The same thing could happen in this situation with a mob mentality using more creative and dangerous tactics to get themselves on the MSNBC news.

Reminiscent of the McCarthy Hearing Days

“New York Attorney General (Cuomo) has announced that he will issue subpoenas immediately for the release of the names and job descriptions of those receiving bonuses..”

“State (CT) officials Friday subpoenaed 14 AIG executives… Blumenthal said the state has been unable to compel AIG to provide names and addresses, so his office used media reports to determine whom to subpoena…. We also want to find out from the people who received these under which circumstances they're receiving them. Performance? Merit? Part of their salary? Was this part of their contracts?"

Just replace the words ‘receiving bonuses’ with words ‘suspected communists” and these quotes sound like the all to familiar witch hunt style activities in the 1950s which were later vilified in history.

As appalled as people may be that people received such large amounts of compensation, there is absolutely no evidence that any wrongdoing or illegal activity actually took place. Congress in fact explicitly approved bonuses in bail out related legislature. Yet the leaders of our country, seeking to further their political agendas and prestige, are now on the very same grandiose witch hunts that Joseph McCarthy initiated back in the early 1950s.

Using their legislative powers to punish these individuals, by essentially taking back all of the bonus money received, is apparently not enough. They now want to publicly scorn and humiliate these individuals in an attempt to destroy their reputations. Don’t be surprised if Congress's next legislative move is to force these bonus taking individuals to wear a scarlet letter (maybe R for Rich – another term that was recently redefined by our great leaders).

This is a slippery slope that we are taking on what is becoming an all out assault on the very thing that made this county great and prosperous (and the envy of the rest of the world) – capitalism.

Breaking News: Dodd admits he was responsible for the AIG loophole

Not that it was a conflict of interest or anything (he only got $240K in campaign donations from AIG), but Christopher Dodd finally admits that he added the 'loophole' in to the original AIG bailout bill that would allow AIG executives to receive their bonuses.

Barneys Frank: Start cleaning up your own house before you get all indignant and almighty.

Get rid of these corrupt bums! And I'm not talking about AIG.

Watch: I'm responsible for bonus loophole, Dodd says

I AM OUTRAGED! GIVE BACK THAT AIG MONEY NOW!

Prepare for a rant... Attention hypocritical senators and congressmen: GIVE BACK THE $4 MILLION DOLLARS YOU GOT FROM AIG NOW! Obama, give back the $100K that AIG gave you last year. Dodd, give back the $240K that you received from AIG.

Barneys Frank: I want a list of all politicians who received donations from AIG or I will ask for a subpoena. I won't guarantee that it will be kept confidential.

These guys are absolutely unbelievable.

I can't wait for that British-style healthcare system

Reports claim that Obama would like to model our healthcare system in the British mold. I guess then we can have 'third world' like conditions in our hospitals too.

What goes arround, comes arround

President Obama seems to be headed into a soup of his own making. It involves Turkey, a tried and true friend of ours. Turkey is an important player in and around the mid-east, particularey in regards to Iraq, and Afghanistan, and we cannot afford to alienate them.
Problem----Barack Obama's political rhetoric may come back to haunt us, because on his agenda, on his first trip overseas is ,Turkey, and Armenia, and maybe double diplomatic trouble.
Back in January of 2008,Obama, obviously for political points, took a hard stand on the side of Armenia. He's sure to get pressed by the Turks to restate his position on this statement.
"The Armenian genocide is not an allegation,a personal opinion,or a point of view, but rather a widely documented fact supported by an overwhelming body of historical evidence. America deserves a leader who speaks truthfully about the Armenian genocide and responds forcefully to all genocides. I intend to be that president."
He's sure to be in the spotlight on this, no rhetoric on this one, very little wiggle room, the spin is out!
This may well be a percursor of his diplomatic savvy.

MA Taxpayers Get What They Deserve

From a new story just out: "More than one out of every five dollars of the $126 million Massachusetts is receiving in earmarks from a $410 billion federal spending package is going to help preserve the legacy of the Kennedys.
The bill includes $5.8 million for the planning and design of a building to house a new Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the Senate. The funding may also help support an endowment for the institute.
The bill also includes $22 million to expand facilities at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum and $5 million more for a new gateway to the Boston Harbor Islands on the Rose Kennedy Greenway, a park system in downtown Boston named after Kennedy's mother and built on land opened up by the Big Dig highway project."

Here are some inspiring words from our Vice President regarding Afghanistan to help motivate the troops: "We are not now winning the war, but the war is far from lost."
I was waiting for him to say one of his famous gaffe excuses like "Oh jeeze, I forgot we already won the election and didn't need to say that." But he didn't. Now I know why he has the nick name Biden the Clown.

If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck…

President Donald Duck was so concerned that he had appeared to dismiss a question from New York Times reporters about whether he was a Duck that he called the newspaper from the Oval Office to clarify his policies.

"It was hard for me to believe that you were entirely serious about that Duck question," he told reporters, who had interviewed the president aboard Air Force One on Friday.

Opening the unusual presidential call to reporters by saying that there was "just one thing I was thinking about as I was getting on the copter," he said it wasn't he who started the federal government's intervention into the nation's waterways.

"I did think it might be useful to point out that it wasn’t under me that we started buying a bunch of shares of river banks. It wasn’t on my watch. And it wasn’t on my watch that we passed a massive new entitlement -– the migratory assistance plan -- without a source of funding. And so I think it’s important just to note when you start hearing folks throw these words around that we’ve actually been operating in a way that has been entirely consistent with free-species principles and that some of the same folks who are throwing the word 'Duck' around can’t say the same."

The New York Times asked, "So whose watch are we talking about here?" but President Duck wouldn't name names.

"Well, I just think it’s clear by the time we got here, there already had been an enormous infusion of taxpayer money into the watershed system. And the thing I constantly try to emphasize to people if that coming in, the ponds were doing fine, nobody would be happier than me to stay out of them. I have more than enough to do without having to worry the watershed system and wading around ponds. The fact that we’ve had to take these extraordinary measures and intervene is not an indication of my biological makeup, but an indication of the degree to which lax regulation and extravagant risk taking has precipitated a crisis."

He concluded the brief call by saying, "I think that covers it."

The phone call came after the president was asked aboard his plane: "Are you a Duck as some people have suggested?"

He was clear in his first answer: "You know, let’s take a look at the migratory bird relief plan – the answer would be no."

"Is there anything wrong with saying, 'Yes'?" a Times reporter pressed.

"Let’s just take a look at what we’ve done," Obama said, ticking off efforts his administration has made to stabilize the watersheds. But he acknowledged that, as he told Joe the Plumber, he plans to try to spread the minnows and aquatic plants around.

"If you look on the revenue side what we’re proposing, what we’re looking at is essentially to go back to the tax rates that existed during the 1990s when, as I recall, rich people were doing very well. In fact everybody was doing very well. . . . We said that we’d give a tax cut to 95 percent of working Americans. That’s exactly what we have done."

If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck…it’s a duck. In a related news item, Obama calls the New York Times to let them know he’s not a socialist.

300K Illegals To Get Stimulus Jobs

According to a USA Today article, it is estimated that about 15% of the jobs from the stimulus package will go to illegal immigrants. This is largely because there were no restrictions put in place, in the stimulus package, on hiring practices of the the businesses that will win the contracts to rebuild America. As all businesses that want to maximize profit, it will be in their best interest to hire labor at the cheapest costs. When it comes to construction jobs, there will be a lot of illegals standing in line for these opportunities and it will be too enticing for the owners not to take advantage of the situation.

THE GOOSE STEPPERS !!!!!!

Hasn't anyone noticed recently, the influx of whacko countries that have gotten into using the Nazi's symbol of intimidation, the "goose step". Check 'em out, North Korea, Iran, Saddams Iraq, Cuba, our new found friends Communist China, amongst several others.
Shouldn't we expect the mainstream media, who are quick to criticize us, and our allies, for our promoting what could be a presentation of normal military formations, as "War Mongering", Intimidating, etc. ,to be at least fair in their presentations of their news?

Close, But No Cigar

In yet another sign of Obama's socialistic ideology, he will be significantly removing restrictions on relations with Cuba in the coming weeks. Banned travel will now be allowed and unlimited money can be sent out of the US economy to Cuban citizens (just what we need more of). But alas, no talk of allowing Cuban cigar imports into the US.

Tim Geithner, Superstar

The new secretary of the treasury, Tim Geithner, was anointed our knight-in-shining-armor by an adoring press. Surely the ‘genius’ (have you noticed the trend that all of Obama administration’s appointees are dubbed ‘smart’), who as assistant secretary for international affairs of the IMF, led the Asian markets out of their crises in the ‘90s, would come to the rescue again, this time for US markets. However, it appears that the markets themselves have not been so admiring of either his credentials or his financial rescue plans (or lack thereof) for the US; the stock market has continued its decline, and bank stocks in particular have plummeted since his appointment.

Perhaps the financial ‘boots on the ground’ know something about Geithner that lay-people do not? Perhaps they understand that the economic solutions that Geithner imposed on the Asian markets were not exactly as brilliant as they have been trumpeted to have been? According to the former Prime Minister of Australia (who, as an economist, was also Treasurer for eight years), the economic solutions applied by Geithner to Indonesia were totally wrong, due to a flawed diagnosis of the problem (read the article if you would like the details); suffice it to say, that the ‘solution’ he imposed caused a precipitous drop in that country’s GDP--and political turmoil that lasts till this day.

The extent to Geither’s IMF solutions were wrong is seen in the fact that NO Asian countries have asked for help from the IMF SINCE! In addition, it is thought that China, not wanting to ever have to deal with an IMF imposed ‘solution’ itself, began investing in US debt as financial backup--this in turn allowed for credit market conditions (cheap credit) that allowed for the over-borrowing/overspending that precipitated the credit crisis that is rocking the global economy today!

We don’t know much of Geither’s plans, but what has the Obama administration done so far? Well, implausibly, they have demanded of China that they buy YET MORE of our debt! Talk about adding fuel to the fire. We can only hope that Geithner asks for outside help when determining what other ‘solutions’ to apply to our economic ills.

Let's meet with more terrorists

First it was Iran. Then it was Syria. Now apparently our new administration plans on meeting with the Taliban. Yes, those sadistic monsters who publicly executed people in soccer stadiums for the most minor crimes (western standards); and safe harbored Al-Queda and their international training camps that led to 9-11. What can possibly be next? Thank God Hitler is no more.

Welcome to Amateur Hour, featuring the star of the show, the Obama Administration

Our new Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, presented her Russian counterpart with a symbolic “reset” button as a gesture of the US commitment to restoring US-Russia ties (GW’s fault of course; apparently, their illegal invasion of Georgia was so long ago that it is just water under the bridge). Unfortunately, for the Obama Administration, however, they wrote the wrong Russian word on the gift, so that it actually read “overcharged” not “reset”.

I mean, come-on, Russian might be a foreign language, but it is not an EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL language! You’re telling me they can’t find ONE person in the US to double-check their spelling?!

FYI Obama, when you want a pizza delivered to the oval office; push the button that reads “intercom” not “nuclear annihilation”, thanks.

Barney Frank Supporters Should Be Prosecuted

According to Barney Frank, it was those who were taking risk who caused our current financial crisis…and they should be prosecuted.

“What are your plans to prosecute those people whose irresponsible and, in some cases, criminal actions helped bring about this crisis?” said Frank, a Massachusetts Democrat…”We have got to empower some entities that don’t now have it to restrain risk-taking that is irresponsible,” Frank said, adding that the Federal Reserve is in the “best capacity” to serve this role.

Ace of Spades reminds us that Barney has conveniently forgotten his very own words regarding forcing banks to lend to those who cannot afford loans:

House Financial Services Committee hearing, Sept. 25, 2003:

Rep. Frank: I do think I do not want the same kind of focus on safety and soundness that we have in OCC [Office of the Comptroller of the Currency] and OTS [Office of Thrift Supervision]. I want to roll the dice a little bit more in this situation towards subsidized housing. . . .”

It seems that the real gamble was laid down by the very voters of Massachusetts who keep voting for this A$$hat, and by Barney Frank’s new criteria of “risk-taking” as a crime, should be prosecuted.

US Employment Rate Falls Below 92 Percent

New data came out today that indicates 92 out of 100 people who want a job in the US have one. This is down from an all time high of 96 out of 100 people.

Lights,Cameras,Action

Get ready, here they come, the Hollywoodies. They've been swarming in limbo for so many years, ravished since the Clinton years, but now they've been set loose, so watch your butt. After being reminded today of the workings of a totally self serving, anti American toady of the liberal left, I got to thinking of a lot of articles recently about the" Beautiful "people, and their recent descent on our nation's Capitol. Actually its more like an infestation. The halls of Congress, the White House the press conferances, there seems to be no place in D.C. safe from them. Of course the doors of all these recently liberalised institutions, off limits at most times to the average citizen, are swung wide open to the entertainment elite. Such mavens of government! Is it no wonder they are sought after by our leaders? It should be a big clue as to whats ahead.

Inviting The Saps In For A Hosing

If you cross Fidel Castro with Adolph Hitler who do you get? I'll give you two guesses,if you are real slow. " Every voice has to be heard, every idea must be considered......The status quo is the one option that is not on the table". "Those who seek to block any reform at all,any reform "AT ANY PRICE" (my emphasis) will not prevail this time around". In a nutshell, he will suffer your opinions, but they will have to be in line with his to be considered. These are quotes are from Fidel....I mean Barak Obama at an all inclusive meeting, on America's "BROKEN" health care system. To say something is broken is to infer that at one time it was whole, or in good shape. Now if you had a fairly new car, but it was in need of some work ("broken" to some degree ) maybe in need of a brake job, a tune up, or both, woudn't you just have it repaired, instead of junking it, and going through the expence and hassle of buying a brand new model. Probably, if you had to pay for it yourself. Then again, if you could talk some suckers into making the payments ...............? answer to the quiz: A socialist state run by a facist administrator.

Big Brother Legislation On The Way

RE. The Rush Limbaugh Inquisition: Came across an interesting letter to the editor in the Naples News, by a Joe Kiernan. Check it out. "At the height of the Cold War, Radio Free Europe sustained the people of the captive nations of Eastern Europe under the yoke of the Soviets, blunting Soviet propaganda and bringing hope to those suffering Soviet imperialism. The Soviets did all they could to blunt and prevent Radio Free Europe from telling the truth. Its not much of a leap when we think of talk radio as Radio Free America. The left wants to stifle it regardless of the euphemisms they use. If it were not for Talk Radio America we would not have access to the truth. The left does not want the people to hear the truth or even contrary opinions. The lefties in congress do what all statists want to do---stifle free speach. Thats the way left is. they cannot help themselves."

A Message From One Of Our Founding Fathers

This was sent to me from a rare conservative student at Tulane University. It is a quote from Thomas Jefferson and sounds as if it could have been written a couple of weeks ago. It is also Obama's mantra.

“Government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have ... The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases.”

Tax Bogglers Unlimited

In answer to the Instigator, I'd like to make the point clear, it is not so much the tax errors of these individuals as the fact that there were and evidently still so many of them. This President seems to have an unlimited supply of economic incompetents available. Of the recent past,I can't recall any nominees Democrat or Republican, that had to adjust their taxes in order to get the job. In those good old days, a conservative nominee would usually just get plain ,get "Borked".

Sick and tired of the 'Last Eight Years'?

Me too. Sick and tired of listening to it as an excuse for everything not going right for Obama. Here are quotes from a yahoo search on recent quotes. Enough already!

  1. "This budget targets tax relief to families that have lost ground the past eight years," Geithner said.
  2. But President Bush and the Republicans have been in power for most of the past eight years and have spent more than $500 billion on the Iraq War. And you paid for it.
  3. What was striking about the pictures was how much the treatment --being hustled along and kept from seeing or hearing what was going on around you --resembled the way the American people were treated for the past eight years
  4. As the end of the Bush presidency draws near, we have heard numerous accounts on the news about the troubles that have happened over the last eight years.
  5. Obama: America, we are better than these last eight years. We are a better country than this.
  6. “This is simple basic stuff,” Biden said. “What’s fair? What’s been going on the last eight years is simply not fair.”
  7. Obama agin: "I won't return to the failed theories of the last eight years"

Not AGAIN?!

This problem must by now becoming very taxing for the Obama administration.

"An Obama spokesman declared the issues "minor" and said the administration is confident that the nomination is on track for a scheduled hearing Monday with the Finance Committee."

--Well, $10,000 is "minor" compared to Daschle's tax problem, anyway....I guess its just a matter of perspecitive.

Two birds with one stone, Obama-style

What a dilemma for a young president; how to weaken U.S. aliances in Eastern Europe, while simutaneously strengthening the positions of our arch-nemeses, Iran and Russia? I've got it; dismantle plans for a missle shield (as well as revampment of Poland's military) in Eastern Europe, and give credit for this action to "help" from Russia...brilliant! This is reminicent of a young, ill-prepared Kennedy facing off against Kruschev...which, according to Russian documents, resulted in the Cuban Missile Crisis, but never mind that little detail.

This guy is like a distillation of all of the bad policy ideas of our previous liberal presidents; he has the 'great society' ambitions of LBJ and the foreign policy credentials of Kennedy and Carter rolled into one. What's next, price controls?...don't joke.

Problem solving ala Obama

Just doing some musings of the long past. I went back to the early 50's, looking for an analogy to our current national debate "Universal Health Care", and a way to resolve it. What came to mind right away was an Italian fellow in the neighborhood name of Vinny. Now I got the following information from an anonymous source, that was not authorized to disclose it. It seems this owner of several bars and cafes, a "connected" fellow, had a dilemma , to wit, an idiot of a son. Knowing he would be a problem in the family business, Vinny decided to set birdbrain up with a Dry Cleaning shop. Problem, there already was a well run, prosperous customer satisfying store in the neighborhood. Vinny decided to try his scheme anyways,by berating the other shop and boasting how his sons would be better. The neighbors did not bite. Another dilemma. The "Answer", sabotage the other store, buy it, raise the prices cut the service and "Presto", your the only game in town. So what if the people got slipshod service and the prices eventually went up,Vinny finally got his way and in the process didn't need to worry about his booze business. Hello, Obama???

Times opposing viewpointsaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

The New York Times; On May 21,1975, it was reported in the Times that "a major cooling of the climate was widely considered inevitable". More so ,"the northern hemisphere's climate has been getting cooler since about 1950". This, if you recall was an urgent wake-up to the alarmists of that era act now, before it became too late. That having fizzled out, the Times now is going down another route a completely opposite road a road named "The sky is falling II", namely Global Warming. I guess its a great way to sell newspapers.

You Win Some, You Lose Some

Well, the Patriots lost Cassell and Vrabel today (ironically to the team that injured Brady). They are taking a big gamble that Brady will be 100 percent in a few months. But, at least the Red Sox no longer have to deal with Manny Ramirez. He is holding out for the Dodgers right now. Apparently, $25M is not good enough for him. Thank goodness he is someone else's problem this year.

Toilet Paper Abuse: I'm with Greenpeace on this one

"People just don't understand that softness equals ecological destruction." A new story out today explains that Americans have a particular fancy for very comfy TP and this is causing ecological problems greater than gas guzzling cars.

I remember my days in the Marines when I opned an MRE and found a packet of TP the size of strip of chewing gum. Somehow I made due. Today, people in this country (particularly those of the female gender) seem to use up an entire roll in a single sitting. This is becoming a major problem and is now considered one of the leading causes of global warming and the decline of the economy.

Start thinking green America (or brown in this case). Here is an excellent alternative to that wasteful TP: Reusable family toilet wipes. Click here to see instructions on how to use.

Watch the price of oil climb

Today, Secretary of the Interior, Ken Salazar, announced that the Obama administration is reversing yet another Bush administration decision; this one granted leases for the exploration of oil-shale in some western states. A Washington DC think-tank, The Institute for Energy Research, believes there is more energy locked in western shale than all of the reserves in the Middle East.

Oil prices, like any commodity, are priced based on future value. Regardless of the political leanings of a given economist, to a man they understand that price is directly proportional to supply. We all remember the rise in oil prices that began in late 2007 and did not stop until the summer of 2008; But, you ask, what happened in the summer of 2008 that caused the precipitous drop of oil from almost $150 per barrel to the current level of under $35 per barrel?

On July 22nd of 2008, President Bush announced the beginning of the lease granting process I mention above. Immediately oil prices dropped and haven’t stopped. Coincidence?...I think not; but we shall see in the coming weeks how much damage this decision by the Obama administration will cause.

Elderly Citizens: Better Not Get Readmitted To Hospital

Under Obama's new $650B healthcare reform plan, hospitals (most of which are already understaffed and under water) will be penalized if an elderly patient has to be readmitted within the first 30 days of original hospitalization.

I'm sure there will be huge incentives to ensure that a patient is not allowed back into the hospital for the following two reasons:
1) The hospitals readmission stats will go up and cause overall govt reimbursement to go down.
2) They won't get paid for readmitting patient.

How is this going to HELP patients receieve proper healthcare? Come on now.

From Washington Post:
"The budget figures also represent significant shifts in how the United States will pay for medical care in the future.
For example, experts have identified hospital readmissions -- especially for elderly patients -- as a sign of inadequate care and unnecessary expense. About 18 percent of Medicare patients are readmitted to the hospital within 30 days of their original visit. The new approach would establish flat fees for the first hospitalization and 30-day follow-up. Hospitals with high readmission rates would be paid less."

Getting banks for cheap-money

What does Venezuela’s president Hugo Chavez do when he wants to obtain (nationalize) a company on the cheap?...He simply tells everyone his plans for a few weeks before-hand. This causes the stock price of the company to plummet and he can grab it at a reduced cost.

This tactic is eerily similar to what we seem to be seeing from our very own government. A series of statements hinting of nationalization of large banks, by US democrats and the Obama administration, has shaken the markets recently and directly led to the decrease in the stock price of Citibank, one of the companies on the administration’s short-list for nationalizations.

Therefore, one of the following must be true: either the Democrats in charge are showing themselves to be completely undeserving of their posts, or we have devolved into a third-world country….I’m banking (no pun intended) on the former.
